Nano sized Zinc Oxide powder, (30nm), Nano sized Zinc Oxide coated with Glycerol Monosterate and Nano sized Zinc Oxide coated with Solsperse (trademark Lubrizol) have proven to be excellent products for UV protection of clear plastics and films

Applications

Many plastics are used to store or protect perishable goods. Further, many plastics are also used in outdoor applications, eg, shade-cloth, greenhouses, mouldings, etc, which are exposed to high amounts of ultra violet light.

In many of these applications it is desirable to have transparent or semi-transparent plastic which allows the damaging ultra violet light to degrade the contents of packaging, labelling and/or the plastic itself. Micronisers modified Nano-sized Zinc oxide powders and dispersions can be used to protect the contents of packaging and the plastic from degradation.
